North Argentine Favorites —
Empanadas // Argentine Pasties
Traditional Argentine pasties with a variety of meat and vegetable fillings. We make the shortcrust pastry in house and bake (rather than fry) the empanadas for a perfect golden finish. Famous from the North of Argentina are the hand-cut beef Salteñas which also happen to be one of Chef Pancho's specialities.
Humita en Chala // Sweetcorn Parcel
A delicious indigenious appetiser, cooked in a corn leaf and filled with a creamed sweetcorn preparation. It's one of the most unique small dishes in La Posta, sweet, earthy and slightly spicy.
Revuelto Gramajo // Ham and Potato Omelette
The story of the Revuelto Gramajo is that during battle in Argentina a General asked his Coronel (Artemio Gramajo) to quickly prepare him something to eat. With nothing but a few potatoes, eggs and scraps of ham left, he put together this dish that the General then requested daily. A must try, and great as a sharing appetiser.
Lengua a la Vinagreta // Pickled Beef Tongue
One of the most popular cold appetisers in Argentina. A sharp, sour, chopped onion and parsley pickle combine with a tender, finely sliced beef tongue. The perfect way to whet the appetite, and an easy way to try one of the often-undervalued delicacies of Argentina.
La Parilla // Argentine Grill
The Argentineans are renowned for their meat and style of cooking steak. Simple, straight forward and incredibly tasty. Expect some of the most typical steak cuts from the North of Argentina including our spectacular butterfly cut ribeye steak, or our signature salt crusted, beef short ribs.
Pansotti/ Sorrentino // Argentine Pasta
The Argentineans reinvented the Italian ravioli and came up with these wonderful equivalents - "Sorrentino" and "Pansotti". Carefully created home-made pasta packed with classic fillings and matched with the perfect sauce of your choice. A great vegetarian option.
Churrasco Salteño // Sirloin Strip
A unique way to enjoy a classic sirloin steak. This North Argentine cut is highly favoured in Chef Panchos home town of Salta. It allows for an even cook and is ideal with a touch of our delicious garlic Chimmichurri vinaigrette.

¡Hola!
We are Kat and (Chef) Pancho, the couple behind central Jakarta restaurant, La Posta -Taste Of Argentina. We cam to the Indonesian capital with a vision to create a new home for North Argentine cuisine.
The beginning
We moved to Jakarta from Valencia (Spain) in 2015, convinced by my Jakarta-based Dad and step mum after they fell in love with Pancho's cooking. Ready for a change, we sold our restaurant and headed to Asia (cue culture shock.)
Opening a restaurant in Jakarta wasn't as easy as we thought. So we set up a barbeque catering company (Taste of Argentina) that allowed us to find our feet and make contacts. We started to get to know the city and grow a family of Argentine food lovers! Through events in Jakarta and Bali we met our business partner, Axel Widjojo (it was love at first grill), and in 2017 we left catering to build La Posta - Taste Of Argentina.
Background
Chef Pancho is the heart and soul of La Posta. Apart from his many other jobs (just ask, he has literally done everything from selling tulip bulbs to building dirt-car racing cars!), him and his father ran their famous restaurant in Salta, Argentina, La Castiza (1953-1991) that seated more than four-hundred guests (and had a function room for three thousand!) It was an iconic destination for travelers and locals and even catered for the Pope when he visited the city in 1987. Pancho also worked alongside celebrity Chef Gato Dumas in his cooking school in Buenos Aires, cementing his passion and commitment to Argentine cuisine and especially from his home region, Salta.
My own story is a little less exciting, but I have always worked in hospitality alongside my university studies in Media and Management (Leeds University). I was a part time journalist and English teacher when I met Pancho in Spain in 2007, and after a short time together we opened our first and later, second restaurant in the coastal city of Valencia. An incredible experience that sparked my passion for Argentine cuisine and a personal dedication to warm and consistent service.
Here and now
La Posta has become a go-to destination for Argentine food lovers in the Jakarta. Many of our guests have become loyal fans during their time in the city and we love that we still get messages from them even after they've left Jakarta! We have a growing community on Instagram and Facebook and we also have a really useful YouTube channel where we answer some of the most common questions we get asked at the restaurant.
We have managed to maintain our position during the pandemic and as we come out of the other side we hope La Posta will continue to stand out as an unpretentious and special place that guests choose to to dine in again and again.
